Marsden Road Poltergeist - Submitted by - E. Mancini
I used to live on Marsden Road as a kid and its all the strange things that happened in our house is what really got me into ghosts. I got a book out of the library called Redditch Ghosts by Anne Bradford, and there was a story in there about a spirit that lived in one of the first few houses at the top of that road. Our house was the 2nd one down, we had all sorts happen there but never anything nasty, he or she seemed to be friendly. I'll always remember a story that my Mom and Dad told me when I was older, that one day, I was out playing with my friends and they were both lay on there bed watching TV when they heard a huge bang, for a moment they thought the cooker had blew up or something. When they looked around the house, they found that something had managed to twist and open the loft hatch and throw it on the my bedroom floor followed by a lot of other stuff out the loft. As I wasn't there it couldn't have been me, even though it would have been impossible for me to do so anyway. We would also have things happen like the tv turning off then back on and the volume turned up or down, this would happen with any TV that we had over the years. It also happened with my stereo. One Xmas eve, when I was a kid my mom cleaned the house from top to bottom ready for Christmas day. My Mom and me went to a friends house, leaving the house empty, when we got back we found old coins, half pennies and shillings that lay in a straight line on the kitchen side, as silly as it seems, my dads socks were in the toilet, my mom's earrings were under the blanket in the centre of the bed, baring in mind she's changed all the bedding that day. We used to hear someone walking across our landing and into my Mom's room, the floor boards used to make a strange noise when someone walked across them. I've also been sat in bed doing homework or drawing, like I used to do and my door handle would move up and down, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, that used to freak me out!
