Lady In Black - A441 - Anon
In was in the late 1980's, a friend of mine was driving down from the Crabbs Cross island towards the Tesco island. It was a lovely summers evening, halfway down the road he saw what looked like an elderly woman, small build and dressed entirely in black, her dress being floor length. She was walking across the middle of the road, slowly and hunched over, my friend stopped his car to let her cross and a driver coming up the other way also stopped as she was neither one side or the other, as she shuffled a few steps, she then just disappeared, my friend was really shaken by the experience and was adamant that he had witnessed this because why would the other car stop also? He told me that instead of driving on he wished he had got out and asked the other driver "did we just see her disappear?".

On quiet nights you are said to be able to hear a steam whistle from a train which once passed along this area before the line was closed by Beecham.
